Thank you, Elliott! I appreciate your post. Although I do not teach full-semester courses on Islam alone like you, I have also noticed these two tendencies in some of the world religions and interreligious dialogue courses that I teach. Thank you for bringing these two threads together in a way I wouldn't have readily recognized. I hope you are well!
